AUSTRALIA

Apart form a period 1980-81 residing in England (London and Oxford) Australia has been home.

Most years in Australia the residence has been in Victoria - Melbourne and Malmsbury
Lengthy periods of residence were spent in Tasmania and Sydney during the 1970s.

And there have been trips:

The East coast road from Wilson's Promintory in the South to Cape Tribulation FNQ in the North.
Acoss the South from Sydney in the East to Albany in the West and Tasmania,
The West coast from Margaret River in the South to Shark Bay half way up the West Coast.
The Northern Territory and each of Australia's States, Territories & capital cities.

An early hand held long exposure night shot playing with a camera
It was amazing to have got anything - dark night, no tripod, slide film, little knowledge.
It's clearly not a very good photograph (camera shake due to over-long exposure)..
but it's here as a reminder of my early love of the medium - besides sharpness isn't everything!

SKIES

There are few breathtaking mountains in Australia...
Clouds above the flat horizon and broad plains appear like magical ephemeral mountains, to my mind.
The first series of photos I considered making (in the 1960s) was of clouds.
Still now, there's nothing better to do on a summer's day than lay back, gaze on the clouds and dream!

PHOTOS from 2010 to 2014

Due to an unfortunate experience with a disc drive neally all photographic work from the period 2010 to June 2014 is lost.

A hard drive ceased to function. It was at half capacity with practically all photos I had taken from2010 throughto June 2014. I think about 300-500gb of photos with nothing backed up. There have been three attempts to recover some data with no good news but considerable cost. Most work lost is general photography - Malmsbury Landscapes, Portraits of the people of Malmsbury, the preceding Cairns trip and a New Zealand South Isand trip. The portraits were a developed body of work, a visual record of many occupants of Malmsbury at that time with several people having already passed away. A few photos from that period have been found on SD cards but almost nothing else exists from that period. The only place that the preceding Cairns photos on this page exist is here on this website in low resolution. The following two photographs of Franz Joseph Glacier in NZ. were printed to participate in an exhibition in Taradale. I actually won first prize not realising it was a competition or mightn't have particpated! Under those circumstances winning was nice and two photographs were printed the lone survivors of the NZ trip.
